Fort Ticonderoga

Do you love American history?  Maybe you like military history or just looking to have fun while learning about the Revolutionary War.  Fort Ticonderoga is the site of the first American victory of the Revolutionary War.  This pivotal location is very much the same as it was so many years ago.  You will see daily reenactments and demonstrations.  This unique opportunity to step back in time and learn about the birth of the U.S.

Fort Ticonderoga is full of rich history and played an important part in the conflict between the French and British.  A more important role in the American Revolution when cannons captured by the Americans were transported to Boston to help defeat the British.

Explore the collection of artifacts from personal items the soldiers kept, maps, uniforms, and weaponry such as the cannons. While on site, you will enjoy the views as the fort is located at the narrows of Lake Champlain and Lake George.  Don’t forget the views of the Adirondack and Green Mountains.

The fort has a nice blend of history and natural beauty on 2,000 acres. The fort was originally constructed by the French between 1755 and 1757.  The fort changed “ownership” over the early years before being of no value to the U.S. military in 1781.  Then in 1820 a family bought the fort and made it a tourist stop.  In the 20th century the fort was restored and now there is The Fort Ticonderoga Association.  The fort is a National Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.
